15th Cheltenham (Shurdington) Scout Group provides opportunities for over 100 young people to develop skills for life through adventure, teamwork and community activities.
We’re looking for a Trustee Chair to help guide the group’s governance and support its long-term sustainability. This is an opportunity to make a real difference to a well-established local charity and help ensure that our young people and volunteers have the support they need.
As Chair, you would:
Lead and support the trustee board, helping it work effectively as a team.
Chair trustee meetings and encourage constructive discussion and decision-making.
Help ensure the group is well governed, financially sustainable and compliant with its responsibilities.
Work collaboratively with the Group Scout Lead Volunteer and other volunteers.
Support forward planning, risk management and the development of the group.
Help create a positive, inclusive environment where young people can thrive.
We’re looking for someone who can listen, communicate well, bring people together and help a team make good decisions. Previous trustee, committee or leadership experience would be helpful, but an understanding of good governance and a willingness to learn are equally important.
You don’t need to be a Scout or have a Scouting background. Support and guidance are available.
The commitment is flexible, with trustee meetings and some preparation and follow-up between meetings. If you want to use your experience to support young people and strengthen your local community, we’d love to hear from you.
